Remington 2-1/2 Primer Case: Heavy Loads

Big-bore handgun cartridges need a primer built for larger powder charges. These heavy handgun load primers ignite reliably across the pressures common to magnum-capable rounds. Reloaders working up loads for the Federal Large Pistol Primers #150 often compare both before settling on one.

Remington 2-1/2 Primer Case: Ignition Consistency

Consistent large pistol ignition matters most when a load sits near the top of published data. Remington meters its priming compound closely from lot to lot. That consistency shows up as tighter chronograph spreads on the range.

Remington 2-1/2 Primer Case: Built for Magnum Pressures

Some cartridges demand more from a primer than standard pressures allow. This dependable magnum caliber component holds up under the higher pressures large-bore handgun loads generate. Reloaders loading near maximum charges appreciate the margin it provides.

Remington 2-1/2 Primer Case: Frequently Asked Questions

How should I store these primers safely at home?

Remington 2-1/2 Large Pistol Primers belong in their original packaging, away from heat, sparks, and open flame. Primers are sensitive to impact and friction, so keep them in a cool, dry cabinet. The NSSF safety page offers guidance on storing reloading components.

Which cartridges typically use this primer size?

Remington 2-1/2 Large Pistol Primers fit any cartridge that calls for a large pistol primer, including .45 ACP, .44 Magnum, and 10mm Auto. Reloaders working up loads for these cartridges sometimes also test the Winchester Large Pistol Primers #7 for comparison.

When should I choose a large pistol primer over a small one?

Remington 2-1/2 Large Pistol Primers are sized for cartridges with larger primer pockets, not for extra power alone. Always match primer size to your brass and load data rather than substituting based on availability. For a lower-cost large pistol option, see the White River Energetics Large Pistol Primers.

What quantities are these primers sold in?

Remington 2-1/2 Large Pistol Primers ship in standard factory trays for easy inventory and seating. Liberty Anno Supply lists available pack sizes on this product page, with pricing updated regularly.

How long can I keep these primers before they go bad?

Remington 2-1/2 Large Pistol Primers remain reliable for decades when stored properly in a cool, dry, low-humidity environment. Rotating older stock to the front helps maintain consistent ignition over time.
