CCI 500 Primer Case: Frequently Asked Questions

How should I store small pistol primers at home?

CCI 500 Small Pistol Primers should be kept in their original packaging, away from heat, open flame, and static sources. Primers are sensitive to impact and friction, so store them in a cool, dry cabinet out of children’s reach. The NSSF safety page offers more detailed guidance on storing reloading components.

Which handgun cartridges use a small pistol primer?

CCI 500 Small Pistol Primers fit most standard small pistol cartridges, including 9mm Luger, .380 ACP, .38 Special, and .45 ACP. Always double-check your load data, since some pistol cartridges call for a large pistol primer instead.

How does this differ from a magnum pistol primer?

CCI 500 Small Pistol Primers are a standard-pressure primer, not a magnum design. A magnum primer burns hotter for slower powders, while this standard option handles most everyday handgun loads without issue.

What quantities are available for bulk reloading?

CCI 500 Small Pistol Primers are commonly sold in boxes of 100, with sleeves of 1,000 and cases of 5,000 available for high-volume reloaders. Bulk cases usually deliver the best per-primer cost.

Can these primers be stored long-term without losing reliability?

CCI 500 Small Pistol Primers can remain reliable for decades when kept dry, cool, and sealed in their factory packaging. Humidity is the biggest threat to long-term storage, so avoid damp basements or garages.
