Compact Sub-Gauge Shot Density Explained

Smaller hulls mean less room for payload, so every pellet has to earn its place. This compact sub-gauge shot density comes from packing dense tungsten pellets into a 2-3/4 inch shell without sacrificing lethal coverage at typical turkey ranges. Hunters wanting a camo hull in the same gauge can compare it to the Apex Greenleaf TSS 28 Gauge load.

Consistent 28 Gauge Patterning Shot After Shot

A sub-gauge shell only earns trust if its pattern stays predictable, and this consistent 28 gauge patterning holds tight groups through a properly fitted turkey choke. Quality control on every batch keeps pellet distribution even from box to box.

Built as a Reliable Lightweight Turkey Load

Carrying a 28 gauge all morning is noticeably easier than a heavier 12 or 20 gauge platform, and this reliable lightweight turkey load keeps that advantage without giving up knockdown power. Recoil stays mild even after repeated calling sequences and repositioning.

Why This Trusted Precision Turkey Ammunition Stands Out

Sub-gauge hunting rewards precision over raw power, and the trusted precision turkey ammunition reputation behind this load comes from consistent tungsten quality across every run. Hunters wanting the same platform with a different pattern profile can also see the Apex Ninja Next Level 28 Gauge option.

Apex Sub-Gauge Turkey Shot FAQ

Is 28 gauge enough for turkey hunting?

Apex Turkey TSS 28 Gauge loads prove that a sub-gauge shell can handle turkey hunting when paired with dense tungsten shot and a proper turkey choke. Pattern density at 30-35 yards rivals many larger-gauge lead loads.

What choke should I run with this shell?

For choke selection, the Apex Turkey TSS 28 Gauge performs best through a dedicated turkey or extra-full choke built for TSS density. A standard modified choke will still cycle but loses pattern density past 25 yards.

Will this shell cycle in any 28 gauge shotgun?

Apex Turkey TSS 28 Gauge shells are built as standard 2-3/4 inch loads, so any 28 gauge shotgun chambered accordingly cycles them without modification. Always confirm your specific chamber length before firing.

How should these shells be stored?

When it comes to storage, the Apex Turkey TSS 28 Gauge keeps best in a cool, dry cabinet away from sunlight and heat sources. Following NSSF’s ammunition storage guidelines is a smart habit for any home ammo stockpile.

Why choose 28 gauge over a heavier platform?

Lighter recoil and less overall gun weight make a 28 gauge easier to carry and swing quickly on a close-flushing tom. Many hunters moving to 28 gauge turkey loads report less fatigue on all-day hunts.
