Hornady Custom 6.5 Grendel Ammo 123 Grain Hornady SST (Super Shock Tip) Polymer Tip

Hornady Custom 6.5 Grendel Ammo 123 Grain Hornady SST (Super Shock Tip) Polymer Tip pairs a polymer Super Shock Tip with a boat-tail jacket for a controlled, aerodynamic hunting bullet. The tip initiates expansion on contact while the tapered jacket controls weight retention through the vitals.

Super Shock Tip (SST) Design

Meanwhile, the polymer tip improves the ballistic coefficient compared to a traditional flat-nose soft point of the same weight. This translates to a flatter trajectory and less wind drift at typical big-game hunting ranges. As a result, hunters get dependable expansion paired with the long-range consistency of a tipped bullet.

About This Hornady Custom 6.5 Grendel Ammo 123 Grain Hornady SST (Super Shock Tip) Polymer Tip Load

Hornady designed this bullet to open reliably across a wide range of impact velocities, from close cover to longer field shots. For reference, this makes it a versatile choice for hunters who don’t always know their exact shot distance in advance. Therefore, it remains one of the more popular tipped hunting bullets on the market today.

Hornady manufactures this load with consistent propellant charges for predictable velocity from shot to shot. The nickel-plated or brass case (depending on load) resists corrosion in the field. This round is widely stocked by hunters heading into deer and general big-game season.
