Apex Turkey TSS Smalltown Hunting Blend Ammunition 12 Gauge #7-1/2 & #9 Non-Toxic Tungsten Super Shot Box of 5

Apex Smalltown TSS Turkey ammo pairs two pellet sizes into one devastating pattern for spring gobblers. This duplex shot blend ammo stacks #7-1/2 pellets over #9 pellets for mass and density together. Additionally, this tungsten super shot ammo delivers far denser patterns than lead or bismuth at the same shot size. It also qualifies as hand-built turkey load ammo, since every round gets human eye quality review before it ships. Furthermore, this 12 gauge turkey hunting ammo pushes effective range well past typical lead loads.

Duplex Shot Blend Ammo: Apex TSS Box of 5 Close-Range Patterns

This 12 gauge ammo layers heavier #7-1/2 pellets on top of finer #9 pellets in the same shell. As a result, the pattern stays dense up close while still carrying knockdown mass. Therefore, hunters get flexibility whether a bird closes to 15 yards or hangs up at the edge of range.

Apex TSS Box of 5 Built for Extended Range

Tungsten Super Shot is roughly 50% denser than lead, so pellets retain energy and penetrate farther at distance. Shooters wanting a single-size TSS load for a tighter budget can also compare the Apex Turkey Ninja TSS #8-1/2.

Hand-Built Turkey Load Ammo in Every Apex TSS Box of 5

Specifically, every round in this box is hand-built and human eye reviewed for shot-to-shot consistency. This shotgun ammo reflects that small-batch attention to detail in its pattern performance. However, always pattern-test any new turkey load before opening day to confirm point of impact.

12 Gauge Turkey Hunting Ammo for Serious Hunters

Hunters comparing brands can also review the Remington Premier TSS Turkey load, or the Apex Mossy Oak Greenleaf Blend for a different duplex pairing. Also, budget-focused hunters may look at the Rogue Turkey TSS 12 Gauge option.

Apex TSS Box of 5 FAQ

What choke works best with this load?

Apex Smalltown TSS Turkey ammo patterns tightest through a dedicated turkey choke with extra-full or turkey-specific constriction. Standard full chokes can also work but typically produce a slightly more open pattern. For guidance on safely patterning a shotgun and choke combination, see the National Shooting Sports Foundation safety resources.

What is the effective range of this load?

Apex Smalltown TSS Turkey ammo is built to perform well beyond typical lead turkey loads, often to 50 yards or more with a proper choke. The duplex blend keeps pattern density high even as range increases. However, every gun patterns differently, so testing at the range before hunting season is essential.

Why does this load combine two shot sizes?

Apex Smalltown TSS Turkey ammo blends #7-1/2 and #9 pellets so hunters get both mass and pattern density in one shell. The larger pellets add knockdown power, while the smaller pellets fill pattern gaps. As a result, this duplex approach performs well across a wider range of shot distances than a single pellet size.

How does TSS compare to lead or bismuth shot?

Apex Smalltown TSS Turkey ammo uses tungsten super shot, which is denser than both lead and bismuth at the same pellet size. Therefore, TSS pellets retain more energy downrange and penetrate deeper on tough turkey anatomy. This density advantage is the main reason TSS has become popular among serious turkey hunters.

How should this ammunition be stored?

Apex Smalltown TSS Turkey ammo should be stored in a cool, dry place away from humidity and direct sunlight. Therefore, keeping the box in a sealed container helps protect the primers and hull from moisture damage. Checking each shell for damage before a hunt is also good practice.
