Apex #8-1/2 Turkey Shot: Fine Pellet Count Density

Smaller pellet sizes pack more shot into the same payload weight, and fine pellet count density is exactly what #8-1/2 shot delivers. More pellets in the pattern means fewer gaps around a gobbler’s vital head and neck area. That density is the foundation of what makes TSS turkey loads so effective at typical range.

Apex #8-1/2 Turkey Shot: Consistent 12 Gauge Patterning

The most common turkey gauge deserves a load that patterns reliably, and consistent 12 gauge patterning is what this Ninja load delivers shot after shot. Uniform pellet distribution across the shell means predictable results from the pattern board to the woods. That reliability is why 12 gauge remains the default choice for most hunters.

Apex #8-1/2 Turkey Shot: Frequently Asked Questions

Is this ammunition safe to store at home?

Apex Ninja TSS 12 Gauge stores safely in a cool, dry cabinet away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep the box sealed until use and store it separately from other ammunition types. Following NSSF’s hunting safety guidelines further reduces any handling risk at home.

What choke should I pair with this load?

For most 12 gauge turkey guns, the Apex Ninja TSS 12 Gauge patterns best through a dedicated turkey or extra-full choke tube. Pattern testing at your own calling distance is still the best way to confirm point of impact, or see our Apex Turkey TSS 10 Gauge for a heavier platform.

How far does this #8-1/2 shot pattern effectively?

Apex Ninja TSS 12 Gauge holds a dense, lethal pattern out to typical calling distances of 30-40 yards with the right choke. The fine pellet size keeps coverage tight without sacrificing energy per pellet.

How many shells come in a box?

Each order of the Apex Ninja TSS 12 Gauge ships as a box of 5 shells, matching the standard packaging across the turkey lineup. See our Apex Ninja Next Level 28 Gauge load if you’re hunting with a lighter gun instead.

How long does turkey ammunition last in storage?

These shells remain reliable for years when kept dry and sealed in their original packaging. Extreme humidity or temperature swings are the biggest threat to long-term pattern performance. Rotate older boxes to the front when restocking before spring season.
